Muddy Boots at the Farm is a truly unique, rural nursery that provides an outdoor inspired early years’ experience, fostering exploration and discovery for children up to age five.

We take a child-centred approach tailored to your child’s interests, enabling our practitioners to create engaging, hands-on experiences that promote exploration and learning in our thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces.

The standout feature of our nursery is our expansive outdoor provision, including two large garden areas and a dedicated outdoor education area where your child will safely build campfires, toast marshmallows, investigate nature, build dens, and climb trees.

We believe in empowering children to become confident, independent learners who embrace new challenges and discover the joy of learning through play.

    The Nest (4 months – 18 months)

The Nest is a warm and welcoming space within a converted barn where babies can safely explore their environment and access a range of stimulating resources and activities to promote their all-round development.

This includes age-appropriate resources like soft play mats and mobiles for developing head and neck control and circular supports for sitting.

Your child will also have access to the garden area where they can safely explore the natural world throughout the day.

Our experienced practitioners will follow your baby’s familiar routine for feeding and sleep to ensure they are as comfortable and as settled as possible throughout the day.

    The Atelier (18 months – 3 years)

Located next to the Nest, you will find our Atelier room, which is our toddler area.

Within this space, your child will be encouraged to engage in lots of creative play through activities like painting, printing and mark-making, using natural resources found in and around our setting, as well as paints, pens, pencils and playdough.

As a nature-based nursery, you will often find us outside, in all weathers. We love splashing in muddy puddles and listening to stories in the rain under the shelter, so if your child loves being outdoors, they will love spending time with us at Muddy Boots.

    The Academy (3 – 5 years)

Our Academy is located within our very own safari tent, although in-keeping with our love of the great outdoors, we spend most of our time outside in our Paddock area.

Being child-focused, your child will actively participate in planning their daily activities. These will be enhanced by our experienced practitioners through the addition of learning opportunities that support developmental goals tailored to your child’s specific needs.

This approach ensures your child’s interests drive their engagement while fostering essential growth within every area of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which is the statutory framework in England that sets standards for the learning, development, and care of children from birth to age five.

    Nursery Manager: Jenny White

After leaving secondary school, I went straight into studying childcare at college and went on to complete my Level 3 qualification. I then spent five years working as a full-time nanny, before taking on a role at a small pre-school, where I gained further valuable experience.

I later joined Muddy Boots as a practitioner and have since worked across all age groups within the nursery. Over time, I progressed from Practitioner to Room Leader, then Deputy Manager, before becoming Nursery Manager, a role I am proud to continue in today.

I have always known that I wanted to work in early years, and being based on the farm is the perfect setting for me. I have a real love for the outdoors and open spaces, and it is wonderful to see how much the children benefit from spending time outside. Every day brings new opportunities for them to explore, discover and learn through their environment.
