At our Muddy Boots at the Market nursery, we provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children from birth to five years feel happy, safe, and secure.

We focus initially on developing your child’s personal, social, and emotional skills, helping them regulate emotions, understand their behaviour, and build positive relationships. These skills form the foundation for their development in all other areas.

Your child’s progress will be observed by experienced practitioners who will create personalised plans that allow them to develop at their own pace.

Our outdoor spaces cater to different age groups: we have a dedicated area for children under two with a mud kitchen, teepee, and seesaw, and a large, shared space for our older children with a climbing frame, slide, bike track, and more.

We are an inclusive setting with all staff trained in Makaton and a sensory area for children with special educational needs.

Extra-curricular activities include Spanish lessons through Kidslingo and Baby Sing and Sign, taught by external providers.

The Nook (2 weeks – 2 years)

The Nook is our calm, Hygge*-inspired baby room, designed to create a cosy, home-like atmosphere where your child will feel secure and content.

Our practitioners will use songs, games, and baby massage to support your child’s early communication and social skills. While their physical development is supported through activities that strengthen muscles, this will help your child reach milestones like rolling over and sitting unaided.

By the time your child leaves The Nook, we aim for them to be using the pincer grip (using their thumb and forefinger) to pick up small objects.

*Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) – a Danish word meaning ‘cosiness’ that refers to the concept of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Studio (3 – 5 years)

In the Studio, we focus on child-led activities that promote collaboration, cooperation, and preparation for school.

Each morning during Fika Time – a Swedish-inspired break for sharing ideas – your child will join their peers for lively group discussions, sharing their questions and ideas.

We extend this collaborative approach during Reflection Time, when your child and their classmates will discuss their favourite activities and plan future adventures together.

Our experienced practitioners then develop these ideas into new learning opportunities to ensure they promote learning and development in a meaningful, yet fun and engaging way.

We also have a regulation tree house for quiet moments, offering your child a peaceful space whenever they need time to themselves.

The Atelier (2 – 3 years)

Our toddler room, The Atelier, fosters creativity through hands-on, child-led experiences.

Using real-world objects, like vegetables, dressing up clothes, and utensils for role-playing, your toddler will explore imaginative play and make their own playdough, developing their fine motor skills and independence.

The Retreat (all ages) →

The Retreat (all ages)

Adjacent to the Atelier, The Retreat is a serene room used for one-on-one learning, target time, yoga, sensory sessions, and moments of tranquillity.

With twinkling fairy lights and projections of calming scenes, it provides a peaceful backdrop for guided meditation and immersive provocations.

Nursery manager: Vicki Grace

Vicki has worked in childcare since 2006, beginning as an apprentice and working her way up to the role of manager. She finds working in early childhood education and care extremely rewarding and feels privileged to be involved in children’s development during their most formative years.

Vicky enjoys extending her knowledge of best practice, so undertakes training on a regular basis. This also enables her to update her staff to ensure they are working as effectively as possible with the children in their care.
